Mayor Geoghegan opens online Book of Condolence for John Hume, RIP

Mayor Damien Geoghegan has opened an online Book of Condolence for the late John Hume.

“The many heart-warming tributes to John Hume by so many people, both at home and abroad, show just how people feel regarding his life’s work in striving for social justice and achieving peace and reconciliation on the island of Ireland” said the Mayor.

“Those achievements were enormous, and it is an honour for me as Mayor to open the online Book of Condolence that will allow the people of Waterford to express their own personal tributes to a truly remarkable Irishman” he added.

When complete the Book of Condolences will be forwarded on to The Hume Family by Mayor Geoghegan on behalf of the people of Waterford.
