If you own a dog, you must have a dog licence

The Dept of Rural and Community Development have produced a dog control video which highlights the importance of having a dog licence, as well as microchipping and other necessities of pet ownership. Uncontrolled dogs can pose a threat to other animals and humans, leading to serious injuries and even fatalities.

A dog license helps to promote responsible pet ownership by encouraging dog owners to train and socialise their dogs, as well as to clean up after them in public spaces.

In addition to promoting public safety and responsible pet ownership, licensing fees can also provide funding for animal control and welfare programs, which benefit the community as a whole.
