Mayor Conway pays tribute to the late Ollie Clery, RIP

The Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. Joe Conway has paid tribute to former Mayor of Waterford, Oliver Clery, who passed away on Sunday, October 8th, 2023.

Cllr. Conway remarked:

“Oliver, who everyone knew as Ollie, was a staunch advocate for Waterford and its people.  He was elected as Mayor of Waterford in 2002.

He was well regarded and respected as a politician and was Waterford’s first ever Progressive Democrat mayor. During his tenure, he undertook the role with great dignity, commitment and passion.

I enjoyed our many chats when we met at the Guillamene in Tramore.  Ollie loved swimming and especially the camaraderie with fellow Guillamene swimming club members following a bracing dip in the open sea.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his wife Mary, children Gerard, Daphne and Conor, his grandchildren, extended family and friends.”

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
